3D Laser Scanning

Experts in 3D Laser Scanning & Modeling

SurvTech’s high definition laser scanning department offers the client a unique opportunity to work with a group of individuals dedicated to utilizing the latest mapping technologies to solve our client’s problems. The 3D laser scanning and 3D design world is still in its infancy.   Every 3D scanning project is unique and spans numerous market segments.  SurvTech has scanned for the following industries:

BIM grid system plant

    • Mine Processing Plants3
    • Chemical Processing Plants
    • Manufacturing Plants
    • Lead Processing Plants
    • Used Oil Recycling Plants
    • Power Generation Plants
    • Power Transmission and Distribution
    • Gas Upstream & Downstream
    • Hotels
    • Commercial Buildings
    • Petroleum Storage Facilities (Piping & Tanks)perspective with Model
    • Material Inventory (Volumes)
    • Crime Scene Recreation/Expert Witness
    • Dams and Control Structures
    • Airportsbldg front to trommel
    • Paper Mills
    • Churches and Schools
    • Historical Landmarks
    • Spiral Staircases
    • Storage Tanks and Silos

There is no one standard for transmitting data. In fact, it is just the opposite. Every client is unique. Our client’s request all of the following file formats and more:

3D File Formats

      • AutoCAD
      • Revit
      • Microstation
      • LFM
      • NURB surfaces
      • Studio Max
      • Navisworks
      • Point formats (PCG, PTS, XYZ, etc…)

Intelligent Data in 3D Laser Scanning & Modeling

  • Leica Cloudworx4.4
  • Leica Cyclone
  • FARO Scene
  • FARO WebShare
  • Carlson Survey
  • AutoCAD
  • Autodesk Product Design Suite Ultimate
  • Inventor
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Vault Basic
  • Navisworks
  • Showcase
  • 3ds Max
  • Sketchbook
  • Alias
  • Mudbox

The future of 3D scanning will be the deliverable of “intelligent” data. Files with a database attached; can be incorporated into to an engineer’s current design for more detailed referencing. Lines, solids, structural components, MEP, equipment, utility components will have information attached to them, such as:

      • Type
      • Size (length, height, diameter, etc…)
      • Weight
      • Use
      • Flow direction
      • Manufacturer

The possible database fields are almost endless. Companies will have to adapt and learn portions of other disciplines, such as the ANSI standard materials that architects, civil, mechanical and electrical engineers use in their designs. Our 3D scanning department utilizes both “phase based” and “ time of flight” scanners to meet our client’s needs and wants. SurvTech’s 3D team has been scanning and modeling for over eight years now, giving us the experience and ability to deliver more than just a pretty picture.
