Video of the Leica ATS600 in action!

SurvTech Solutions recently utilized the Leica ATS600 laser tracker in conjunction with the RTC terrestrial scanner at Gasparilla Lighthouse, showcasing its unique capabilities in metrology. While the ATS600 is capable of scanning, it excels in capturing high-resolution details and special targets. During the project, some of the monuments were obscured. By leveraging the ATS600’s scanning feature, we used the same targets as the terrestrial scanner to successfully locate these hidden monuments. Additionally, we scanned the checkerboard targets, enabling rapid data acquisition and seamless integration across different measurement systems. The results? One of the tightest registrations we’ve ever achieved—all while significantly reducing data acquisition time!

The Leica ATS600 is a cutting-edge laser tracker that offers non-contact surface scanning capabilities. Its innovative functionality provides substantial benefits over traditional platforms, delivering exceptional value to our customers while improving safety and efficiency for our team.

SurvTech’s utilization of non-contact probing with the Leica ATS600 offers unparalleled precision and versatility. This advanced technology achieves non-contact surface scanning up to 150 feet with high-accuracy metrology control, ensuring detailed and precise measurements. It excels in selectively scanning intricate details at high resolution, making it ideal for capturing geometric targets like spheres and checkerboard patterns. These features provide robust control tie-ins with other scanning and survey workflows. Additionally, the ATS600 delivers unmatched accuracy with approximately 0.01-inch single-point precision at a 60-foot range. Model-driven scanning capabilities enable the generation of highly structured scan clouds, while its vector-to-surface intersect functionality allows for precise material thickness measurement and monitoring on complex surfaces.

Enhanced safety is another key benefit of the ATS600. Enabling non-contact measurements eliminates fall hazards commonly associated with physical probing. The system also reduces the need for multiple setups, minimizing risks and physical strain on team members.

Efficiency is significantly improved through the ATS600’s innovative features. It effectively addresses access challenges by measuring hard-to-reach features without the need for costly access logistics. The system captures data in areas where line-of-sight is obstructed for physical probing, allowing seamless data collection without disrupting normal operations. For complex geometries, the ATS600 scans grids of points efficiently, optimizing the process for intricate surfaces. By requiring fewer setups, it enhances overall project accuracy and accelerates turnaround times.

The Leica ATS600 enables SurvTech to meet the demands of the most challenging engineering projects. Its high-accuracy scanning capabilities are essential for precision work. Furthermore, its ability to physically probe high-accuracy details while providing comprehensive scan data context makes it an invaluable tool for our metrology team.

By integrating the ATS600 into our workflow, we’re setting new benchmarks for efficiency, safety, and accuracy in the industry, ensuring top-tier results for our clients and team alike.
